WHAT'S FOR DINNER?
shakespeare

Even though they are all dead now, the folks who lived when Shakespeare lived had to eat too.  Your group's task is to figure out what they ate, how they got it, and how they prepared it.  Answer the questions below using the links provided.  Present your findings in a 10 minute presentation to the class.  Use a poster or presentation board to support your talk.  You don't have to provide a worksheet like all the other groups, but you do have to find an easy Elizabethan recipe to prepare and share.  If you answer the questions completely, you'll have a very good answer to the final question, which is the most important.

Things to address in your presentation:
1.   What kinds of meats were available in Elizabethan England?
2.   In general, how did people usually get their dinner?
3.   Explain how, if at all, the poor people's foods differed from the wealthy.
4.   Describe the eating arrangements, silverware used, etc.  Were plates involved?  Napkins or sleeves?
5.   Describe one way to cook which didn't involve a microwave.
6.   Why didn't people drink much water?  What did people drink?  What did the wealthy people drink?
7.   What were the expected table manners during this time period?
8.   Describe how the food available and eating habits affect life during this time period.

Make sure you visit the EVALUATION PAGE to see how you will be graded on this BEFORE you start.
Be sure you divide the work up clearly, so there is no confusion about who is responsible for anything in your group.
