2.1.1.2
Problem Statement
After
reviewing various issues within the science curriculum at our school, the issue
that stands out the most is the inability of our student population to write
conclusions well. The current
performance is that approximately 30% of our students write complete entries
relating their data to their hypothesis statement. The desired standard is that 100% of our
students are able to write conclusions well.
The problem statement is that “the students in our school aren’t able to
write an accurate conclusion relating their hypothesis and data in their lab
write ups.” Why should students write
well thought out conclusions for their labs? Students should learn to write well thought
out conclusions because those conclusions are connected to the content and
standards of the science curriculum in our school.
