Gifted Education Program

District Mission

It is the mission of the East Cleveland City School District to provide the children of East Cleveland with the academic and life skills needed for each and every one to be a success in the 21st Century.

Gifted Defined

The term, “gifted” refers to students who perform or show potential for performing at high levels of accomplishment when compared to others of their age, experience, or environment and who are identified under 3324.03 of the Ohio Revised Code. The East Cleveland City School District is committed to providing these students with the programming that is designed to interest, challenge, and address their unique learning styles and unique needs.


In accordance with Ohio Administrative Code 3301-51-15, Operating Standards for Identifying and Serving Gifted Students, the East Cleveland City School District annually identifies students who possess high intellectual and academic ability. Recognizing that students with exceptional abilities represent one of the greatest human resources, the East Cleveland City School District gifted program is designed to provide its gifted and talented students with differentiated instructional strategies, enrichment, and acceleration of course content.
